At a Spring launch, I started the engine....no water coming from the
exhaust thru hull....pulled the boat to check the intake under the
hull....clear and there is a strainer over it as well.
Started to check the hoses when I noticed antifreeze still in the glass
bowl holding the raw water strainer.....I empty the bowl of salt water
in the Fall and put some antifreeze in it just in case over the winter.
Turns out when I put the cap back on in the Fall I didn't tighten the
two (2) wing nuts sufficiently to prevent air leakage....intake was
sucking in air and not raw water.
Tightened the two (2) wing nuts, relaunched and all was fine.

Alera has a blockage somewhere in the raw water system. Nothing out
the exhaust.
I checked the intake and the pump. Both seem fine. But, there seems
to be no flow at the strainer.
I am wondering if there is some maintenance needed for the vented
loop? It is the next link in the chain and I’m running out of links.
