It is a good idea to exercise the Merelon valves. Forespar specifically says 
this in their operating instructions. They claim that the more you exercise 
them the better they move.

If I may suggest, it is probably advisable to exercise them more often than 
once a year (but I must admit that I don’t do it often enough myself).

Btw. Forespar has a special lubricant they recommend for their fittings. The 
problem with that one is that it comes in a tube and I did not find a good way 
to apply it to the valve’s ball.

My 1984 C&C 32 has all Marelon seacocks....not as great a chance for them to 
seize as metal ones.....nevertheless, every layup, I give them all a spray of 
lithium grease and close and open them .
