Somewhere I picked up a spray can of Cable Lubricant (?Motorcycle shop, maybe). I took off the binnacle and could reach down to spray onto the cable and gave enough to trickle down inside the sheath. Seemed to free them up quite a bit so have forgotten about changing out the cables for now. Simple, cheap and worth a try. Cheers

I suggest removing the old ones first to get an idea of the length. When you remove then make sure to pull a fish tape in their place for easy reinstall. I needed to remove my steering pedestal in order to properly access the cables. You might be able to jimmy them without this step. If you do it is a great time to replace your steering chain and cable.
