Love this thread. An old timer once told me , "every boat is someone's dream". This idea is very nice dream and a noble quest, and though I'd prefer a larger boat for the task, I'm sure a 1975 C&C 33 could be prepared to make the passage. The deciding factor is more on the experience, determination, and fortitude of the skipper and crew. And the weather window is closing for attempting it this year. So many variables to consider.
