Chuck, Welcome back! FWIW, my 35/3 has a 42 inch Edson wheel. I replaced the camel's hump with a lower, narrower homemade teak seat that is an arch.
Maybe a rotary rasp on a drill? Sounds like a couple thousandths of an inch is all you need.
