There is a lot of info on that on other forums. I found some on the SailboatOwners.com.
To start with, a lot of news information was inaccurate (e.g. the initial statement that he lived for a long time in an overturned hull). But if you look at what is there on SO, the previous owner advised him not to sail out before the boat was fully refurbished (apparently, the main reason for selling it was that it was not serviceable). And there were numerous tell-tale signs (his questions to the forum, and how he treated answers). here is a link: http://forums.catalina.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?t=170363 However, it is easy to talk about it from the comfort of one’s desk.
