I have been a big Garmin fan, but a couple of things they have done lately have soured me. Specifically, ending support for the old Garmin proprietary chip devices, including no more charting updates. I can see moving to the SD card, in fact I thought they were crazy to have their own format in the first place, but to discontinue mapping support for a series of devices only 5 years old...is not good.
