You have to spend a ton of money - say $600 and up - for something like a
Rolls battery to get the same heavy duty deep cycle construction as the
average $80 golf cart battery. The only reason I don't have them is they are
about 1 inch too tall for where my batteries go :(

Paws had 6 volts when I purchased her.  I replaced them with 12v this past
winter.  I never really saw any great benefit to using 6v (wire two in
series to get 12v).  The number you require is dictated by size and capacity
desired (like any other bank) but always in groups of 2. They are somewhat
smaller and easier to handle but not much so.  Franky, unless you have a
very odd shaped area for battery storage (6v are ofter taller) I don't see
any point to it.  Just too many good 12v options that are readily available.

Just an opinion.
