Frank - Yes, the motor and everything important is lodged up in the front of the V Berth, behind the bulkhead. I have actually come to the conclusion that that was a brilliant move. After some hard use, it still works like new, because it has never been wet. I've had too many conversations with folks who put the windlass in the anchor locker, and it's all corroded like an out of tune fiddle, and all I can say is 'welcome to salt water over the bow.'

My batteries are located all over the place. Okay, that was a joke. It's all about keeping the boat in balance. I ran huge wires off the house bank. Some folks believe that it's better to run small wires to a dedicated windlass battery in the bow, but I don't buy it. A single battery in the bow can get drained pretty fast. I like to leave the engine on a fast idle, where the alternator is outputting 80A or so, and then haul the anchor up. Sometimes you have to set the anchor a few times, for many reasons. Maybe you'll misjudge the currents and breeze, and end up too close to another boat and need to pull it up and move it over a bit. Sometimes something really weird will happen. One time I couldn't set the anchor, and couldn't figure it out because I knew I had a perfect bottom for my ground tackle. I had a heck of a time hauling my anchor back up, and saw I'd fouled up on an entire abandoned drift net that was spread all over the bottom. I hauled the whole thing up with my windlass (another reason for over sizing the windlass.)

Yeah, my power cables are 40 feet and thick and long. I knew a woman at West Marine at the time of the installation, and got a good deal on the wire. It ain't cheap.

anchor locker fwd and behind was removable accrss cover

2. Where your bateries are located and how many Ah? if battery  are in original 
place and some under berth close by so the power cable must be approx 40 Ft.
