I would advise hiring a consultant. I'll do it for $350.
Seriously, the vessel doc center is good to work with. Call them and they will
help you. Be sure to have the documentation number handy when you call.
Also, ask them about an "abstract of title". They used to be about $25. It
will show every registerable transaction since the boat was documented. It
will show all title transfers, liens, etc. It may be interesting reading. The
one for Touche' was fun to read.
When I bought Touche' I had issues transferring it to my name because of a lien
the previous owner had not cleared with USVDC. They were very helpful with the
transfer. Once the previous owner sent them a satisfaction of mortgage, I got
the documentation promptly.
