I agree with Ed, mooring balls does provide some peace of mind and if it's a windy night you will need to take shifts to make sure you don't drift. We will be in BVI's next week and we rented a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 40.3 at the cost of 5,179$ USA for 6 people including cell phone that is provided by TMM charter, fuel, park fees, cruising tax, insure and plus 175 $ for a check out Skipper for 4 hrs. At home, we love to sail and race on a River but we don't have much experience sailing in the Ocean ( nil ) so we agreed to have a check out-skipper come on board. The only problem that I am worried about is if he says we are not experience enough and he will need to tag along for the rest of the week. Well if he does he's going to sleep in the dink and we will through him a beer once and a while.. maybe. I was told from people that have sailed in the BVI's to bring lots of money and pack light. Has anybody aver been stuck with a check-out skipper?
