The Mark III already has the split backstay .... and the extra length mostly in 
the cockpit.

There was a post on the list over a year ago when someone did something similar 
to a 35 (I think).  They had to make a split backstay and literally took a 
Sawzall to the transom, cutting it down to the level of the sole.  They then 
finished the opening.

  I don’t agree with the transom opening but the tee is a fantastic idea. Note 
they cut down the coaming and moved the vents, etc to the sides to allow for a 
seat for the skipper.

  Wonder what that cost the owner to do?
