Yet another reason why skinny IOR boats are great! I can go overboard
to leeward and still keep a hand on the helm. <VBG>
I also do the water jug thing. I don't know if you remember this pic
from last year, but here's a picture of the mineral buildup from urine
in head hoses.
<http://www.wbryant.com/temp/badhose.jpg> Not my boat. I go over the
side. I'm sure that when my time comes, they'll find my with my fly open.
Which does remind me of a really funny story about going over the side
in anchorages. Heading down the West coast I stopped in Santa Barbara
for a few months. I was about 3/4 mile off shore in 40 feet of sand,
mainly to avoid being around other boats. For reasons best left unsaid,
it was 2 p.m. and I didn't have any clothes on, but went topsides to
take care of business and didn't bother to put shorts on because there
wasn't another boat within a reasonable distance. As I exited the
companionway I heard a huge cheer. 50 feet off my port side was a
tourist boat with about 30 people on board, with a big banner on the
awning saying "SEA LION TOUR." All I could do was wave back.
Fortunately I'm in pretty good shape for my age. I don't know if they
saw any Sea Lions, but they definitely got their money's worth.
