I used a heat gun and dishwashing detergent tricks + brute strength to install
hoses. Also, double up the hose clamps. I put the PYI, Inc. sold hose clamp
band caps on to prevent cuts from the sharp clamp band ends when working in
tight spaces.

To prevent extreme gross out during repairs and replacements I flush the system
with lotsa water and KO then drain as much as possible from convenient low
spots. When removing the head for rebuilding (WC Skipper, mostly bronze,
rebuilt twice so far..) I use the garbage bag trick to transport to my work
area then dis-assemble outside, cleaning with Simple Green or similar cleaning
product.

Calypso's Trident sanitary hoses have been odor free for 14 years. I am
religious about flushing enough clean water (finished off with fresh) through
the system when leaving the boat to avoid pooling of black water. I use the
Raritan products KO and CP in the hose flush water and holding tank. I
followed Peggie Hall's recommendations closely regarding ventilation and
maintaining a good tank environment for the KO supplied bacteria to prevent
tank smell from the vents.

I'm not sure if it was on this list where I saw it. But one tip I plan to try
the next time I need to change a hose is to pre-expand the end with the tool
they use for expanding automotive muffler pipes to make them slip over
adjoining pipes. They come in different diameters. You slip it into the end of
the pipe or hose and tightening a nut causes it to expand inside the tubing. I
think between that and careful application of a heat gun, it might be just the
thing. It sounds good, anyway...
