Edd,
2 amp hour draw? Specs I see for the Adler Barbour CS-NC-15 Cooling Kit say 4
amps at 12 VDC, 2 amps at 24 VDC. This is a Danfoss BD35F compressor unit.
All,
One day I'll put together a spreadsheet on these darn things. You really need
to look hard at them because you're comparing apples to oranges to papayas.
All the manufacturers put specs out there but the boxes are all different.
What's a "well insulated" box anyway? I don't think Touche' has one. :(
By the time you consider the size of the box, the compressor size, whether to
go with a cold plate or just a plain evaporator, air cooled, water cooled, self
pumping cooled, etc. You'll drive yourself nuts. Then there's Isotherm's ASU
technology that senses "extra" voltage (like when the engine is running) and
kicks the unit into max mode to super cool the cold plate.
The lowest power usage "claimed" for any fridge system seems to belong to the
Technautics Cool Blue. It claims 21 ah per day for a 6 cu foot box. That's
under 1 ah. Unfortunately it seems to have the highest price at $2700.
However that's a Danfoss BD50F based unit.
The Isotherm 3201, a Danfoss BD35F based unit, claims 0.4 ah average draw and a
max 4.4 cu ft box. It's big brother, the BD50F based 3701 claims 0.65 ah avg
and a 7.1 cu ft max box. If you choose the self pumping model, the avg ah
drops to 0.55. Guess the fan draws 0.10 ah avg. This price on that one is
$1750 plus replacing/installing a thruhull.
Then there's Sea Frost, Frigoboat, and Billy Bob's super dooper cooling
machine. Like I said, you need a speadsheet to compare them.
Heck, I just want a cold brew.
