Well I had my quadrant out, and no stops on it. Nor any appearance where they
would mount, and I will take a look, as well, the EDSON guides show that these
should be screwed into the hull, not the quadrant, so I am a bit befuddled by
all this.

I think Jonathan offered to send a picture, so if that is not inconvenient,
please do. a...@airsensing.com any others, as well.

My boat came with a 6 part mainsheet arrangement, but I switched to a three
part and self-tailing winch. The problem with the former arrangement: In light
air, when rounding the windward mark, the main wouldn't go out without someone
pushing the boom out. When rounding the leeward mark, it took too long to trim
in the main (the sheet was twice as long). In heavy air, it was difficult for
the crew to release the sheet from the cam cleat. The present arrangement works
better on Thirsty.

Rob,

Thanks again for carrying the the torch forward this year. Good times with
great people in a great venue (damn good beer too!)

We already have a volunteer who will carry it forward again next year so please
look for e-mails late this year for a new dates and location.

Have a great fall!

I would like to volunteer to run next year's event -- hopefully late August and
a spot a little more west, like Cedar Island Marina in CLinton CT.

Edd,

That's awesome! I think you would get people from the Chesapeake and
beyond who would arrive by land if it were a little more west.

Joel,

        I think so.

Plus, CI Marina has floating slips, a pool, a recreation area, a game
room, an on-site seafood restaurant and, for those who want to give up all hope
for a new set of sails anytime soon, a free shuttle for the spouses to the
Clinton Outlet Malls.

I stopped there last year on the way back from the Mystic Rendezvous
and found the location phenomenal (and for those who can appreciate the Star
Trek II reference, they put me on a dock next to a motorboat named "Reliant".

For those coming by land, it's a few minutes off I-95 in the 60s. And,
accessible by train too.

I'm happy to arrange and set it all up.

        All the best,

Hi all,

More on my Edson steering rebuild. In the Edson catalogue, they show 2
different styles of rudder stops. When I poked my nose under the sole, I
noticed there never were any, just some wear marks on the fiberglass cloth.
What do the other boats have?

I have rudder stops. They are pieces of aluminum that limit how far you can
turn the quadrant. I can take photos if you want.

I like Essex or Stonington better. More scenic and more restaurants. Will
definitely attend next year. Jerry Tauber - C&C 27-5 Fast Lane.

If I remember correctly, on my 35MkIII I have two metal (aluminum?) "pins"
that are bolted / attached to the quadrant. They are perhaps 1/2 inch
diameter and stand up about 2 inches. They are covered in rubber sleeves.
When the wheel is turned fully on obe direction, the appropriate side "pin"
rests against what looks like a glass-fiber "block" that is fixed / part of
the hull. The rubber presumably takes out some of the shock

Hi all,

More on my Edson steering rebuild. In the Edson catalogue, they show 2
different styles of rudder stops. When I poked my nose under the sole, I
noticed there never were any, just some wear marks on the fiberglass cloth.
What do the other boats have?

Sounds the same as the arrangement on my LF38; due to the extreme tightness of
the space around the quadrant (it's immediately above the fuel tank and below
the cockpit sole), the stop blocks are mounted to the underside of the cockpit
sole.
