Judging by the glass work in the back half of my keel, there was a
grounding event somewhere in its past. It was very good, only the different
gelcoat gave it away. I think my surveyor missed it.
Beside the point, my keel has had zero movement since we bought the boat.
No smile, no water issues, I haven't torqued a thing. I think that horrible
place under the mast step might need to be swilled out one of these days,
but it hasn't been a structural problem at all.
If there's that much water in 24 hours, there's a problem. It's not
something I would live with comfortably and I doubt a nut job will fix it.
