I have yet to install mine. I would check defender for pricing this weekend. I just picked up a new chartplotter and the Ray/tack tick wireless t108 instruments. I couldn't stop myself...
They were selling Lemar ocean series #40s for $700 and evo #40s for $800 both self tailing chrome. From my Android phone. I resisted these. The guy said they offer really good deals at the Annapolis show too. Danny -------- Original message -------- From: Tom Buscaglia <t...@sv-alera.com> Date: To: cnc-list@cnc-list.com Subject: Stus-List Autopilots Edd Alera has one. It has works well, though the motor head on the wheel was busted and taped when we bought her, and in heat the tape slipped and I had to replace that part. But other than that, it has performed flawlessly. The wireless remote is a worthwhile addition too. Nothing like motoring and steering from the fore deck! I have even used it in some fairly gnarly weather here in the PNW, under power and sail, (inside the confines of Puget Sound and the Straights of Georgia) and it help up OK, though I suspect it was near the max of its engineered capacity. I think you'll also need to get the matching control head, unless you already have something that will match up. And the new "Sea Talk" cables do not match up with older models so need a converter to pair with any older Raymarine instruments. Let me know what the folks at Raymarine have to say about the capacity. Before I take on the task of disconnecting, shipping and paying for servicing, I'm also considering replacing it with a newer energy-saving and efficient modern option. I see Raymarine sells a SPX-5 p70 system for around $1,500. What do you use on your boats? Any thing that I should be aware of? All the best, Edd Edd M.
