This is C&C related because I'm going to the Bahamas this fall and am in ptocess of outfitting the boat. When checking out my signal flags the other day, it occurred to me that I don't have a courtesy flag for the Bahamas. When I went on line to look for one, I see both the Bahamas official national flag and what I've identified as a Bahamas commercial ensign (the national flag in the upper left quadrant of a red flag with a white cross).
The commercial ensign is what appears most often for a "courtesy flag". In my understanding, proper etiquette is to fly the national ensign as a courtesy flag. Are the Bahamas a special case? And am I correct if I fly the national flag instead of the "courtesy flag", or is the commercial ensign the proper one to fly?
