Hi Andrew,

Despite spending quite a lot more on maintenance than I really wanted to,
I've thoroughly enjoyed our 35-3. We race Wednesday nights and a few
weekend regattas - on our day (right conditions and we make the right
decisions and no mistakes) we can beat anything. Around 10-12kts true,
with a 155% and flat water we'll do very well. When the wind really gets
up we also do very well. I've found medium air (less than 20) and waves to
be hard to keep up with other designs.

We also enjoy week-long cruises and it's a very civilized boat for two.
Adding an anchor roller this year will pretty much complete the cruising
setup. My boat is set up for easy single-handing. I have the traveler
across the bridge deck, self-tailing secondaries (but not primaries), an
autopilot and a sock for the cruising spinnaker. I really notice the
difference between having seven crew on the rail and single-handing - sail
selection is very different!

I'd second what others have said about window replacement, but that's
pretty easy to do yourself (I did), as is installing refrigeration and
autopilot (I went with a wheel pilot). The majority of the hull and deck
has balsa core, and repair of that is expensive - so get a survey and be
very suspicious of any high moisture readings.

Where will you be sailing?
