Chuck,
One of the "tricks" for using the ATN climber is to avoid adjusting the chocks 
for too large a step -- I find this particularly true for the descent. Also, 
its important to have the bottom line very tight to prevent swaying all around 
the mast. I run this line through a block attached to the mast collar and back 
to a winch to remove most of the stretch. It takes a while to get the hang of 
it, and sometimes you have to readjust the chocks to get enough throw for the 
next step up or down. But it's handy when you're shorthanded and have to go up 
the mast.
