Now this is wild, I was down there slugging drafts after the race as this was
happening and didn’t even know it!

Insurance company will offer to buy it back from whoever finds it out in open
waters.
Had a guy years back sailing his boat down NJ coast to bring it to a weekend
regatta, big seas, fell off a mile out with autopilot on, sails up.
Had a nice ocean swim in to shore. 3 days later a scallop boat found it 20
miles out. Towed it in, reported it to Coast Guard. Insu company bought it back
from the boat who found it. Thats Maritime Law.

Latest on this C&C 115, apparently the owner had a young crew and his
girlfriend take the boat back up the lake, and they got a line wrapped around
the prop a couple miles out. Don’t know why they couldn’t sail it back, but
anyway they were picked off, CG only had available a small boat, so, probably
why they didn’t tow the boat back. Might have been worth a call to Tow Boat
US, The boat is still at large on the lake. It may be a salvage case if he
can’t get it himself, I would hire a helicopter if it was my boat!
