I tried to kludge together all the stuff at a hardware store, ugly
and expensive. Finally found the sink drain solution, by Forespar.
I'm sure there's one near you.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement drain stopper for the
galley sink. Not sure if I am calling it the right thing ( in
england it would be a plug) but its that thingy that with little
lugs that in one position keeps the water in the sink but when
twisted will drain the sink!! All the lugs on mine have become
brittle and broken
