I don't like the Rule automatic bilge pumps.  


I prefer a bilge pump with separate float switch.  I've found the Rule bilge 
pumps to be very reliable but have seen failures with the Rule-A-Matic float 
switches.

There are reliable float switches on the market.  Check out:
