Hi All, Am working with someone to remediate his XP environment to Windows 7. The software ONLY runs on Windows so no choice there. But there is a Linux connection.
I am working with his old IT guy & as part of the remediation we have put Ubuntu 14.04 (with KDE) as a host...running latest VirtualBox & additional bundle both downloaded directly from website. We are also using zfs for the snap-shoting as well. Pretty much everything is working as it should with a couple small exceptions: * Sound: Seems to play fine but he is complaining that it isn't loud enough. Sometimes after work they like to crank the tunes or a video or something & while the volume is good, it was louder under Windows XP. It is onboard sound & a custom build from MemEx & imagine fairly generic drivers. I haven't used VirtualBox that much so I am not sure if that is the problem. I am not 100% of the chipset on the soundcard without taking the computer apart...unless anyone can suggest anything. In Win 7 I believe it shows as generic...so not much help there. I did try to update the drivers but only a minor change. * Printer: He was mentioned that the printer didn't seem to print as quickly from the Win 7 environment as it did before. Now this could be down to being connected via IP address & I think now that the USB issue that was happening through VBox we might be able to connect it directly. Surely VBox isn't affecting things THAT much? _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list clug-talk@clug.ca http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
