First for Terrell, In one way, your right, it is not hard to change them. Depending upon the change, it may not be hard to make it work in the bylaws either but also depending upon what is desired, five or six other items may have to be changed also and it all has to work together as a unified package. Changing one thing may trickle down into a mess at the end. Depends on what is changed and how.
The idea of a merger may have merit. An additional item must be considered before you look at it seriously I believe. Both clubs are registered with the government under the societies act. They may have items in that act that speak directly to whether or not a merger can take place but I am betting it has been done and if so, there will be an allowance for it. Not sure but my advice is to check there first. Other stuff.... The idea of having T2 getting votes on a regular basis has a downside as well. A few irresponsible members can easily destroy the group which, I imagine, was one of the reasons behind limiting the vote for them in the first place. On the other side with memberships possible and being able to keep it afloat, there is the possiblity of maintaining the current situation and hoping for the best .... trying to patch a couple of things viewed as a problem ..... or a major overhaul (not pretty) So how do folks get a say or can be heard without having a vote and if the leadership is biased or too cautious or unimaginative or in a bad mood, will having a say make a difference? Not sure who but a couple have suggested a pow wow session or more than one .... that may be your best place to start ..... getting attendance committments maybe problematic but without bringing it up, it will not be explored. Not saying that is bad but sometimes, all options, good or bad, must be examined before the better path can be seen. The best problem solving frequently starts with gathering all of the available data. And as Gustin suggested, much depends upon the people involved....all those involved, not just leadership With a good membership, a leader shouldn't have to do much more than maintain consistant policy, procedures and order with a little guidance thrown in. The members would provide all of the 'meat' or substance.
