I have no knowledge of the bylaws issue. IMHO they should be easy to change. All the club needs is at least a 2/3 majority vote. So the club should organise a change to the charter and put it forth to the membership and lets see.
Now I have been to CLUG meetings and I consider what the club does to be quite valuable. I especially like the install fests. My issue is simply demand for my time and parking. If I have to take transit then it will cost close to $6 bux and I likely will not go. But I have never actually calculated my marginal costs of driving and this might be of interest because maybe in the name of effieciency we can set up virtual meetings? I was in the past a member of CUUG. I consider CLUG and CUUG to be such sister organisations that I suggest a merger. This would need to be I think at least a 2/3 vote for by both memberships. I have breifly looked at the CUUG bylaws. I had no problem with them. I also note CUUG does have some assets. Last I looked the membership costs were so low that for me its a no brainer. I'll pay even if I never attend a meeting because I think CLUG offers the community a service. So its worth it.
