I've got a HP envy dvd6 that I bought for about $900. It has 8G memory, 750G hard drive (that I replaced with ssd), i7-3630QM proccessor, 15" HD screen and Nvidea GeForce GT 630M. It's not an ultrabook (which means I also have a cd drive etc) but it is still pretty lightweight. Oh and it also has a pretty good camera and build in mic. I use it with Skype and never had problems.
Note that at the moment I have sound problems if I use Ubuntu 13.x (only front speakers work, I think it is because they made some big changes on the kernel but haven't spend much time to investigate yet), so I'm stuck with the 12.04 lts Ubuntu which works great.
