In my experience none of the Linux IM clients have all the functionality of the MSFT messenger, but I have only used Pidgin and 1 or 2 others. They are usually fine for text messaging but fall short on voice calling and video calling. Even with text messaging I have experienced security / login issues where MSFT has mucked up the credentials to the service, which (mysteriously?) mostly affect the non MSFT clients.

There are connections to MSFT messenger service via web portals but I don't know if they have all the functionality of MSFT messenger client.

Hi,
Our office wants to move to a MS instant messenger. Can Linux Ubuntu work seamlessly with instant messenger? Thanks. - Jerry
