Wouldn't it be easiest to just goto bootdisk.com and grab a 98SE boot
disk image and write it to a floppy and use it to boot and do a fdisk
/mbr?


Ah, but you see, that is how I got where I am. Since I have WinXP,
apparently I needed (or still do need to) run fixmbr from the recovery
console, which won't boot because of hardware detection problems.



*chuckle* *snicker* and you were ranting about how linux isn't ready for the desktop because your HW didn't work out of the box. WAY too funny.




Perhaps this is what I needed. I HAVE switched over to my dedicated linux box for everything except gaming, and I accept the error of my ways :)
