When I used lilo, there was a way to restore the old boot record from a copy that lilo made when it installed itself. I suspect this is true for grub too.

This should be fairly simple info to find in the man page or on google
(groups.google.com).  Knoppix sounds like the perfect tool for this.




If only I had known this yesterday... I have unpartitioned my linux space to give more room for windows. As I said, having a boot disk is no problem for me. If someone can tell me how to set a grub.conf file for the boot disk, I will just leave it in forever. As it is, I will probably do the same anyway.
