Here's my current status:
1. Booting from HD gives "Operating system missing" 2. Booting WinXP CD hangs after "Inspecting hardware" stage. 3. Booting into knoppix shows that the WinXP partition is intact.
As I see it, I need to find some way to run fixmbr, or create a suitable boot disk which I can then leave in as a backup.
I have access to a working linux system, aside from the one that isn't booting at the moment.
As I have some partitions from my old linux install, perhaps the best option would be to install a minimal linux distro, with GRUB, and then use that to boot for the forseeable future.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I do not want to lose my Windows machine (gaming, you know).
