If I leave one hhd disconnected, then the other one can be accessed as a straight ide device, and Slackware boots up OK. When both hhd's are connected though, I can access both devices, but I can't boot - lilo error 99. The other problem is that software controlled fans are running at the maximum speed, which is very noisy. The lesson for today: do not buy Compaq! Even if sales people and the website both say that this particular model can run Linux, it might be not completely true. In fact they only provide support for RH8 and RH/SuSE enterprise editions. There is no open source raid driver. Trust no1 :) -- Marcin http://members.shaw.ca/mmhikes /\/\ _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca
