Yes, you have some crazy chicken-egg situation.... You can compile the kernel and the driver from the source on some other Linux machine... Or if you have some bootable distribution which runs from the ram disk - this might be another option.

OK, but all I have right now is the source code for the driver. I can't compile it, because I have no system installed. I can't install system, because I can't access the raid. Am I missing something obvious here?
