As Surgo said in the other thread:

Pedestal project, please add a section to the top that is literally called 
something like "What Pedestal can do for you" and answers that question."

And that’s why I thought that Pedestal looked very complex and hard to use. 
Even the Hello World example is couched in terms that make it look overly 
complex.

And it’s not just Pedestal. A lot of Clojure projects suffer from this. 
java.jdbc suffers from this and it’s really easy to use too — I just haven’t 
figured out how to explain it properly :(
