PHP does the same thing and it's really useful. We all think that the ability to build DSLs in Clojure is good; ultimately, what this means is that we think that good language behaviour is domain specific. For webpages, I think this kind of coercion can be good. It would be easy to get Clojure to behave in the PHP way, while it is rather harder to stop PHP from doing this.
