I agree, that clojure will not gain java-like popularity in a forseeable future.
IMO clojure is much more a Language for SystemProgrammers (high demands, thinking in concurrency) than a Language for ApplicationProgrammers (midsize demands, thinking singlethread) it does not have to target general purpose use.
