What about upstart? Both Ubuntu (Debian?) and Redhat are moving away from SysVinit to upstart, and it fully supports a daemontools-like interface for permanently monitoring the state of a service process I think safe_clamd may not be needed... -- Cheers Jason Haar Information Security Manager, Trimble Navigation Ltd.
