Rewriting the zip code and other modules from C into a bytecode would be an overkill and would seriously hit the performance of ClamAV. Having said that, we have plans for developing a bytecode interpreter for one of the upcoming major releases but it will be targeted on malware detection and will allow us to distribute detection algorithms together with regular signatures. But for sure we won't rewrite core modules with it, moreover - to save the performance we will try to limit the calls to the bytecode interpreter as much as possible. -- oo .....
