So far everything they've said is true. No confusion here. If one 
presumed some thing regarding the pre-announcement that wasn't specified 
by the announcement then one could be disappointed when that something 
did not materialize. I took it the announcement on face value - 
something is going to happen that will involve a release candidate. I've 
every confidence that something will. Since I know the next event is an 
RC drop I have nothing compelling to do in response and will enjoy a 
3-day weekend. If the pre-announcement was for a new version release I'd 
be inclined to take my laptop along.
