Linux/UNIX is a different environment, with more strongly-enforced privilege separation than Windows. Linux/UNIX applications also tend not to treat data as executable content or to believe that a file is executable because its name ends in "exe". I'm not saying Linux/UNIX viruses are impossible. I'm saying the environment is significantly more hostile to viruses than Windoze is, and this will greatly limit the propagation of Linux/UNIX viruses. I do not believe there has been a real Linux virus in the wild, and I can't believe someone wouldn't have created one by now if it were as easy as on Windoze. Heck, even MSFT has probably tried as part of it's FUD campaign. :-) Regards, David. _______________________________________________ Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: visit http://wiki.clamav.net http://lurker.clamav.net/list/clamav-users.html
