Hi, I'm also running Solaris 10 I have a similar problem, Clamd (0.91.1) runs fine but after exactly 1 hour the socket disappears and clamd needs to be restarted, this happens exactly after 1 hour after clamd has spawned. CPU load is pretty low on this server. I have a cron that checks the clamd service, I think I'll change over to SMF as you have done.
Does anyone know how clamd could die after 1 hour all the time? Clamd kept dying (disappearing without trace), I suspect at busy times, as has been reported here for earlier versions. I recompiled 0.91.1 without the experimental code, and put clamd under control of the Solaris Service Management Facility so that it would restart itself if it died again. I haven't seen any restarts in the log since, but Exim is occasionally complaining that it can't connect to the socket, something you normally only see when you stop and start clamd.
