Hi,

I’ve recently installed Clamav in conjunction with Sendmail and the clamav-milter. The antivirus seems to be working fine, however, I’ve got a couple of questions regarding its config that I was hoping someone could help me with:

1) Is it possible to configure the milter so that an email alert is sent to the original intended recipient of the email that contained the virus. Most virus scanners seem to be able to do this, however, in the milter man pages, I could only find options for sending an alert to the postmaster, and the sender of the email.

This should be possible, but it is undesireble behaviour.

2) Currently, my sendmail/clamav MTA is the last MTA in the delivery chain of email messages to my domain. In the future, however, this will not be the case (it will be the one before the last). Will clamav/sendmail scan the emails for viruses nonetheless? In otherwords, what do I need to do so that all emails traversing the MTA asr scanned for viruses, not just the ones intended for local delivery?

Run clamav-milter with '--force-scan' option to force scanning of all mails.

Petr
