I tried this, and also added the clamav-freshclam part too, but no luck! Here's what I tried: apt-get remove clamav (this removes: daemon, freshclam & clamav) apt-get remove clamav-base dpkg --purge clamav dpkg --purge clamav-base dpkg --purge clamav-freshclam dpkg --purge clamav-daemon rm -rf /etc/clamav rm -rf /var/lib/clamav apt-get clean apt-get install clamav-daemon clamav-freshclam The system tries to install the .65-1 packages as mentioned but I still then get the md5 error: Reading CVD header (main.cvd): OK Downloading main.cvd [*] ERROR: Verification: MD5 verification error. Waiting 10 seconds... dpkg: error processing clamav-freshclam (--configure): subprocess post-installation script killed by signal (Interrupt) Setting up clamav-daemon (0.65-1) ... Starting clamav daemon: clamdERROR: Database initialization error. invoke-rc.d: initscript clamav-daemon, action "start" failed. dpkg: error processing clamav-daemon (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: clamav-freshclam clamav-daemon Looks like I might have to use the source but I would like to stick with apt if I can..
