Hi,

I'm trying to install clamav 0.65-2 with amavis & Exim etc.. on a Debian woody/sarge mixed system.

When I go to install clamav, I get the following:

--------------->
Setting up clamav-freshclam (0.65-2) ...
Starting database update
It takes freshclam ~3min to timeout and try the next mirror in the list
ClamAV update process started at Mon Feb 9 16:43:32 2004
Reading CVD header (main.cvd): OK
Downloading main.cvd [*]
ERROR: Verification: MD5 verification error.
Giving up...
Starting clamav virus database updater: freshclam .

Same problem here - I've tried it on three different boxen running sid and woody.

Further info:

Deleting the database and downloading by hand, then running freshclam gives this output:

etherjammer:/var/lib/clamav# freshclam
ClamAV update process started at Sun Feb 8 23:33:23 2004
Reading CVD header (main.cvd): OK
main.cvd is up to date (version: 19, sigs: 19987, f-level: 1, builder: ddm)
Reading CVD header (daily.cvd): OK
daily.cvd is up to date (version: 124, sigs: 680, f-level: 1, builder: ccordes)

However, then this happens:

etherjammer:/var/lib/clamav# /etc/init.d/clamav-daemon restart
Restarting clamav daemon: clamd
Stopping clamav daemon: clamd.
Starting clamav daemon: clamdERROR: MD5 verification error.

So I try this:

etherjammer:/var/lib/clamav# sigtool -i main.cvd
Build time: 27 Jan 2004 12-31 +0100
Version: 19
# of signatures: 19987
Functionality level: 1
Builder: ddm

ERROR: Verification: MD5 verification error.

I have tried adding different APT sources, downloading from different mirrors, adding a mirror.txt with one or more mirrors I think are good, and various other tricks.

I'm stuck.

I will not install binaries outside of apt, since that is not 'the Debian way' ;) - so if I must, I will look into a different AV solution.

It's just frustratiing since clamav ROCKED so much until today.

By the way:
etherjammer:/var/lib/clamav# apt-show-versions | grep clam
clamav-base/unstable uptodate 0.65-2
clamav-freshclam/unstable uptodate 0.65-2
clamav-daemon/unstable uptodate 0.65-2
libclamav1/unstable uptodate 0.65-2
clamav/unstable uptodate 0.65-2

What will the '-2' turn into when this is fixed - so I know when I can retry?
