Clamscan is provided to use without clamd - so clamd is not necessary if you decided use clamscan Clamdscan is provided to use with daemon clamd, but in some platforms or using some scanners clamdscan does not work excellent - in this cases clamscan can be more recommended rather than clamd/clamdscan. The benefit of clamd/clamdscan is fastening of scanning but on faster computers in practice does it no differences.
