Have you got any feedback on this tool? How long was the testing period?

I tested version 0.1 in-house starting February 21. It never had any problems, but then again I've never had clamav-milter fail on me.

Since releasing version 0.2 (with patches suggested by Stephen Gran) on March 22, there have been several dozen downloads. But I've only gotten comments from two people: one person that didn't understand the documentation (I added more notes to the website) and another person that suggested catching another type of failure mode (which led to the release of version 0.3 on April 8).

So, it's been out for about 6 weeks, and I know of at least 4 people using it in production (and weblogs indicate there may be many more). One of those people actually has seen it restart the milter when it had failed. I have fairly high confidence in it, but it might be a good idea for NJH or one of the other developers to review its defaults. Nobody has complained about them, but it probably makes sense to have the default socket match the default socket suggested by the clamav-milter docs.

Also, I currently have it returning 0 if the milter failed, and 1 if it's working. That's the way clamd_watch was written. But it might make sense to reverse the logic (0 for things working, non-zero for problems). It would seem to make more sense that way, but I'm afraid it would confuse too many people (especially those who are already using it) to differ from the clamd_watch logic.

Let me know if you need any other information.
