ClamAV 0.84rc1 has been released.
Looking forward to testing it (probably this weekend).
This version improves detection of JPEG (MS04-028) based exploits, introduces support for TNEF files and new detection mechanisms. Various bugfixes (including problems with scanning of digest mail files) and improvements have been made.
Interesting that you should mention problems with scanning digest mail files. A user just got a 68K email that clamscan has serious trouble with:
Data scanned: 353.21 MB Time: 284.089 sec (4 m 44 s)
I'm guessing this has been fixed (it's a digest of sorts) and preliminary testing with 0.84rc1 indicates the problem has been solved. I'll submit a sample if I can prove otherwise, though.

I was hoping that clmilter_watch would make it into this release. Was it intentionally omitted, or was it just an oversight? It's available at http://www.itg.uiuc.edu/itg_software/clmilter_watch/ and is available under an open-source license. I haven't verified that it works with 0.84rc1 yet, but expect that it should.
