I'm trying to get an overview over required or helpful tools, libs and commands to Import and Export DV25 and HDV 1080i to/from PC harddisk over 1394.
Tape backup scenario: ---------------------- My planned Sony HDR-FX7E camcorder doesn't have any analog-IN or pass-through, and therefore cannot convert Analog video to DV this way. However, FX7E can record or make backup on miniDV HDV tapes over iLink connected to devices as follows: alt.1) in HD quality from a HDV 1080i compatibel player alt.2) in SD quality from a VCR player or AV device with an iLink Jack. alt.1) is expected can be used also applying an Analog/DV25 bridge/converter (typical Datavideo DAC-200 or Canopus ADVC-110), while converting from a S-video IN to DV25 OUT on 1394. alt.1) is also expected used to record edited DV25 by exporting it from PC harddisk over 1394 to FX7 miniDV tape alt.2) is expected used to record edited HDV 1080i by exporting it from PC harddisk over 1394 to FX7 miniDV HDV tape 1. DV25 import/export: ---------------------- dvgrab (import only?) libraw1394 a) how to export DV25 over 1394? b) dvgrab import/export commands? 2. HDV 1080i import/export --------------------------- mpg1394-grab (import only?) libraw1394 a) import command: mpg1394grab > video.mpg I've read there also is an experimental HDV patch for dvgrab. b) How to export HDV 1080i over 1394, commands? 3. ffmeg: --------- Iv'e seen ffmpeg can be used to transcode from one videoformat to another, i.e from raw or edited HDV 1080i mpeg2 to mpeg4 But can ffmeg in some or another way transcode from HDV 1080i to (pseudo) DV25? The purpose is to be able to export it over 1394 and record it on FX7 miniDV tapes. My current openSUSE 10.2 i586 installation: ------------------------------------------- [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> rpm -qa | grep 1394 libavc1394-0.5.3-20 libraw1394-1.2.1-20 libdc1394-2.0.0-21 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> rpm -qa |grep mpeg libmpeg2-0.0.1145-2.0 libffmpeg0-0.4.9-8.pm.svn20070104 ffmpeg-0.4.9-8.pm.svn20070104 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> rpm -qa |grep 61883 libiec61883-1.1.0-12 I see I still lack mpg1394-grab Does someone have or know of a current rpm package? Do I lack or need to verify something else? Terje J.
