Compile it! I don't even think! about using "bleeding edge"
soft like cinelerra from some binaries -
usually there are some small bugs which
are corrected in svn only or by myself (like mpeg2 cache).
Also one needs to mod mpeg2enc for 25Mb/s bitrate ;-)
HDD - i agree - HDD can crash badly. But it never happened to me
in 10 years ;-).
If your material is valuable - just keep master tapes (even Hi8).
Project can be saved on external hdd. Why upload to the tape then?
